Slack + Data Alias: Post a protected result to a Slack channel, without reading any of it
Why use Slack with Data Alias
Sharing a finding with the team usually means pasting it into a channel. This posts the reviewed result with aliases in place — and asks for nothing that could read what's already there.
How it works
Data Alias asks Slack for two permissions: post messages, and list the channels the app has been added to. It can't read history, search or upload files. You add the app to a channel in Slack, pick that channel, and the protected result is posted from your browser straight to Slack. The sign-in secret stays on the Data Alias relay.

Connect
Slack's consent lists two permissions: chat:write and channels:read.

Add the app to a channel
In Slack. If no channel is listed, that's the step to take.

Review in your browser
Detection, your rules and the review before export run in the tab, the same as for an uploaded file. Change any suggestion you disagree with.

Post
The message is sent from your browser to the channel you picked.
What moves where
- What reaches Data Alias servers
- Only the one-time sign-in code. The message goes from your browser to Slack.
- What Data Alias reads from Slack
- The names of channels the app belongs to. No messages.
- Never sent
- The original file, the alias mapping, and restored results with real names never leave your browser.
- Who holds the access token
- Your browser tab, in memory only.
Limits worth knowing
- If the answer to a post is lost, Data Alias can't check whether it arrived — it has no permission to read the channel. Posting again may put a second copy there. That is the trade for not reading your conversations.
- Larger results can't be attached, because file upload permission is deliberately not requested.
Can I connect Slack today?
No. The connection is built and tested against stand-ins for Slack, but it hasn't been run against a real Slack account, so there is nothing to connect yet. Download the safe copy from Data Alias and share it in Slack yourself.
Can Data Alias read my Slack?
No. It holds no history, search or file permission, and the code has no call that could read a conversation.
Why could a post appear twice?
Slack has no way to mark a post as the same request, and Data Alias can't read the channel to check. So after a lost answer it tells you to look first; posting again is your choice and may duplicate.
Data Alias reduces exposure risk but cannot guarantee detection of every sensitive value. Every transfer passes the same review as a download — check the result before you send it. How connected services are handled.
