Why use Intercom with Data Alias
Conversation exports carry customer names, emails and whatever people typed into the chat. They are worth analysing, and risky to hand to an AI as they are.
How it works
Data Alias doesn't connect to Intercom. Intercom's API doesn't accept requests from a browser, so a connection would have to route your original records through a Data Alias server — and Data Alias never does that. So the export stays your step: export the data from Intercom, drop the file into Data Alias, and everything after that happens in your browser.

Export from Intercom
Export the conversation data you need from Intercom as a CSV file.

Drop the file into Data Alias
The file is read in your browser tab. It is not uploaded anywhere.

Review the message columns
Free-text columns with detected emails or phone numbers are suggested for protection. Check the rest yourself.

Download the safe copy
Row order, column order and empty cells stay as they were. Use it in an AI tool, or keep the mapping to restore real values later.

Limits worth knowing
- Detection is pattern-based and suggests rather than decides. Review the columns and free text before you rely on the safe copy.

Why isn't there a direct Intercom connection?
Intercom's API doesn't accept requests from a browser, so a connection would have to route your original records through a Data Alias server — and Data Alias never does that. A file export keeps your original data out of our servers entirely.
Is anything sent to Intercom?
No. Data Alias has no connection to Intercom and makes no request to it.
Will it catch a name typed inside a free-text answer?
Emails, phone numbers and credential patterns inside text are detected. Names written in a sentence are suggested only by the optional in-browser name detector, and it won't find every one — review free-text columns yourself.
Data Alias reduces exposure risk but cannot guarantee detection of every sensitive value. Every transfer passes the same review as a download — check the result before you send it. How connected services are handled.
