Why use Help Scout with Data Alias
Support conversations name the customer and often the problem in the same line. This reads a mailbox's conversation list into review without an export.
How it works
Help Scout has no permission scopes, so your approval covers the whole app — wider than the read-only calls Data Alias makes, and the connect screen says so. The sign-in secret stays on the Data Alias relay, which discards the refresh token. You pick a mailbox, and the conversation list comes from Help Scout straight to your browser. The total arrives with the first page; if it is over your plan's limit, reading stops there.
What it does
- Read each conversation as a row: number, status, subject, preview, customer name and email, created and updated time
- Read the list fields, not whole threads
- Stop after the first page if the total is over your limit
- Request each page itself rather than following links from a response

Before you connect, Data Alias tells you that Help Scout's approval is app-wide.

Its conversation list is read into the review step.

Detection, your rules and the review before export run in the tab, the same as for an uploaded file. Change any suggestion you disagree with.
What moves where

Limits worth knowing
- Help Scout has no count endpoint, so the first page — up to 25 conversations — is read before an over-limit total can be refused, and then discarded.
- Help Scout offers no way to revoke from outside. To remove access completely, remove the app in your Help Scout profile.
Can I connect Help Scout today?
No. The connection is built and tested against stand-ins for Help Scout, but it hasn't been run against a real Help Scout account, so there is nothing to connect yet. Export conversations from Help Scout and upload the file to Data Alias.
Does it read whole conversation threads?
No. It reads the list fields — the subject and a short preview — not every message.
How do I remove access completely?
Disconnect in Data Alias to drop the token from the tab, then remove the app in your Help Scout profile.
